Located on Irving Place in Manhattan, the Headless Horseman was inspired by Washington Irving’s “The Legend
of Sleepy Hollow”. Material selection was vital in re-creating the era in which Sleepy Hollow was written. The design utilizes reclaimed hemlock from barns in western Pennsylvania, along with existing exposed brick walls, cast iron details, and working gas lamps. The arched solid wood entry doors and new stone facade reinforce the Headless Horseman’s rustic aesthetic.
